5 killed, at least 30 injured as buses collide in Faridpur
At least five people were killed and 30 injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Faridpur-Khulna highway in Mallikpur area in Sadar Upazila.
The accident occurred around 5am today (15 October). Of the deceased two of them have been identified as Abu Bakkar Gazi, 55, hailing from Shyamnagar, Satkhira, and Isa Morol, 40.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karimpur Highway police station Salauddin Chowdhury confirmed this information and said they are trying to identify the other three deceased.
He said a passenger bus named Green Express was going from Dhaka's Abdullahpur to Jhenaidah when it collided with another passenger bus named Khagrachari Paribahan headed to Shyamnagar, Satkhira.
The OC of Highway Police initially confirmed that all the victims were passengers of Khagrachari Paribahan.
The injured were rescued and sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Thirty of them have been admitted there.
