6 killed in separate accidents in Ctg and Gopalganj
Six people were killed in two accidents involving motorcycles being hit by other vehicles in Chattogram and Gopalganj on Friday (17 January).
In Chattogram, three people were killed when a bus rammed into a motorbike in Mirsarai upazila, police said.
The deceased were identified as Rubel Barua, 40, a local activist of BNP and son of Shyabhoranjan Barua, Nippu Barua, 43, son of Meghal Barua and Sani Barua, 37, son of Suresh Barua of Mayani Barua Para in Mirsarai upazila, reports UNB.
Quoting locals, Atik Majum, officer-in-charge of Mirsarai police station, said, "The accident occurred at around 4am on Sufia Road when the speeding bus hit the motorbike carrying the three."
"The victims were returning home after having breakfast at a hotel. The three died on the spot, and their bodies were later recovered by police. The three died on the spot. Police later recovered the bodies," he added.
Meanwhile In Gopalganj, a motorcyclist and his two pillions were killed when a vehicle hit their bike on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Hironnokandi in Kashiani upazila on the day.
The deceased were identified as Hridoy Mridha, 18, son of Monir Mridha, Bishal Nag, 16, a student of Kashiani Technical School and son of Babul Nag and Dipu Das, 18, son of Bishnupodo Das of Kashiani upazila.
"The accident occurred between 5:30am to 6am when the unidentified vehicles hit the motorbike, leaving the three dead on the spot. They met the tragedy while heading towards Muksudpur upazila to drink raw date juice. The bodies were kept at the Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, said Abdullahel Baki, sub-inspector of Bhanga Highway Police.
