7 killed as microbus plunges into ditch in Cox’s Bazar
Among the injured, six died while undergoing treatment at hospital.
Seven passengers, including two women and a child, were killed when a microbus fell into a ditch after colliding with an electric pole in the Vendibazar area of Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar on Sunday morning.
The microbus was heading towards Banshkhali in Chattogram from Cox's Bazar.
One of the dead was a pedestrian and the other six were passengers of the microbus, said the officer in charge of Chakaria police station, Shaker Md Zubair.

The deceased are, Hazera Begum, 55, from Chakaria's Fashiyakhali, Purnima, 30 from Ghonapara in Cox's Bazar municipality, her child Sharthok, 3, Ratan Bijoy, 50 and his wife Madhumita, 45, both from Dulahazra, Rani Rudro, 24 from Banshkhali in Chattogram. The name of the other deceased is yet not known.
Among the injured, Purnima's husband Pradip and their daughter Shymoli along with Babar Ali, 18, hailing from Manikgonj and several others are under treatment at a local hospital in Charakia and Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
The accident took place as the microbus skidded off the road while trying to save the pedestrian and went straight into the ditch after hitting the roadside electric pole around 10:15 am, leaving one dead on the spot and several others injured.
Among the injured, six died while undergoing treatment at the hospital, said SI Mosharraf Hossain of Chakaria police station, citing the witnesses.
Shafayet Hossain, in charge inspector of Malumghat Highway Police Outpost, said, "The Noah microbus involved in the accident has been taken into the custody of the Highway Police. The next step will be taken at the decision of the relatives of the deceased. The bodies are in the custody of Chakaria police."
