Railways adviser seeks German cooperation in procuring locomotives, carriages

Adviser for the Ministry of Railways Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has sought Germany's cooperation in procuring locomotives and carriages for Bangladesh.
The request was made during a courtesy call by German Ambassador Achim Tröster yesterday at the adviser's office at Rail Bhaban.
During the visit, Ambassador Tröster congratulated Fouzul Kabir Khan on his appointment as an adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh.
In the meeting, Fouzul Kabir Khan highlighted the government's dedication to fulfilling the people's expectations.
"The current government's primary mandate is to combat corruption, establish good governance, alleviate public suffering, and meet popular demands," he said.
The adviser also sought Germany's cooperation in supplying locomotives and carriages to Bangladesh and expanding the use of renewable energy in the country.
In response, Ambassador Tröster assured that discussions would be held with the German Railway Department to provide necessary assistance.
The ambassador also mentioned that negotiations are underway between Bangladesh and Germany to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on renewable energy.
Once signed, the MoU will enable the provision of financial, technical, and policy support, according to the ambassador.
