An angry mob has vandalised and set fire to the office of Awami League's Cumilla city unit and the house of ex-member of parliament AKM Bahauddin Bahar.
The incident took place around 1am today (6 February), eyewitnesses said.
According to the eyewitnesses, an angry mob tried to break into Bahar's house at Munsef Bari area in Cumilla city by breaking the window grill around 1am.
Many people entered the house by breaking the lock, while some others continued to throw brick chips at the house.
At one point, the mob vandalised the house and set fire to multiple rooms and the front of the house using petrol, eyewitnesses said.
Bahar's house was vandalised earlier during the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on 5 August.
Meanwhile, some agitated people tried to vandalise the office of Awami League's Cumilla city unit at Ramghat area in the city around 12:30am.
During this time, the angry mob vandalised the brick pillar at the entrance of AL's Cumilla South unit office, locals said.
Contacted, Convener of the Cumilla city unit of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Abu Raihan said, "The autocratic government is hatching conspiracies in India. Fascist Hasina is trying to create anarchy in the country through video, audio messages despite fleeing the country."
"The country's students and people won't accept such ill motives of Hasina. That's why the aggrieved people have vandalised and set fire to AL's office and ex-MP Bahar's house. MP Bahar had tortured the people of Cumilla for 12 years," Raihan added.
