Abdul Hannan Masud, the chief organiser of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has called for the demolition of all residences belonging to former Awami League MPs and ministers, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
In a Facebook post this evening (5 February), Hannan proposed that new buildings be constructed on those sites and the flats be gifted to the families of July martyrs.
Since early today, photos have been circulating of a poster announcing a bulldozer procession towards the Dhanmondi-32 residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Following the announcements, a group of agitated people attacked the Dhanmondi 32 residence around 8:00pm.
Meanwhile, a two-story building on Sher-e-Bangla Road in Khulna City named 'Sheikh Bari', which is the home of five cousins of Sheikh Hasina, is being demolished by bulldozers.
Around 9:00pm, a group of students gathered and started vandalising the house, our Khulna correspondent reports.
The Sheikh Bari was known for hosting political programmes, including the formation of committees of the Awami League and its associate organisations.
