Almas Cinema Complex in Ctg to be turned into cultural complex: Farooq-e-Azam
The Almas Cinema Hall in Chattogram will be transformed into a cultural complex featuring five to seven separate cinema halls with modern facilities, Liberation War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e-Azam said today (13 October).
"The ministry had previously approved the construction of a 22-storey commercial building on land owned by the Liberation War Affairs Ministry. However, the government has decided to scrap that plan and replace it with a new one to build a cultural complex, offering a recreational venue for the citizens of the port city," he said at a meeting with the Sammilita Nagorik Forum Chattogram, following an inspection of the Almas Cinema Hall Complex earlier this morning.
Farooq-e-Azam further said, "We will consult with the citizens of Chattogram before finalising the project, taking their feedback into account regarding the design of the entertainment complex."
The view-exchange meeting was attended by members of the Sammilita Nagorik Forum Chattogram including Ahmed Newaz, Amir Uddin, Swapan Mojumder, Hasan Maruf Rumi, Supik Anwar, Shamsuddin Illius, Abida Sultana, Monir Ullah Quader, Sheikh Didarul Islam, and Mohammad Jamal Uddin, among others.
