Assailants kill 13-yr-old, steal his battery-run rickshaw in Faridpur
Such violence against a minor for stealing his three-wheeler has left the locals shocked and speechless
Unknown assailants have viciously murdered a 13-year-old boy before making away with his battery-run rickshaw in Faridpur town, leaving the locals shocked and speechless.
The body of the minor, identified as Husain, was recovered from the town's Bhati Lakshmipur area this morning (3 January) after locals saw it near the boundary wall of a women's madrasa and informed the police, confirmed Kotwali police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sanatan Kumar.
Officers from Kotwali police station and a crime scene unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrived at the scene soon after.
Husain, who lived in Char Tepakhola Byapari Para with his family, was the youngest of four siblings. His father passed away just a week ago, leaving the family in financial hardships. Relatives had purchased the battery-run rickshaw to help Husain support his family.
According to his cousin Obaidur Rahman, Husain left home with the rickshaw yesterday afternoon (2 January) and did not return last night. Despite public announcements in the area, there was no trace of him until his body was found this morning.
Preliminary investigations suggest Husain was strangled with a rope before his body was dumped by the assailants.
SI Sanatan said Husain's body was sent to the local hospital for an autopsy. "We are conducting an in-depth investigation with the help of the CID's crime scene unit. We hope to identify and apprehend the perpetrators soon."
