Bangladeshi worker who died from Monkeypox in UAE buried in Cumilla
The body was transported from Dhaka airport to Cumilla last night, and the burial took place today at the family graveyard following the directives of the upazila administration
The body of Kamal Hossain, 38, a Bangladeshi expatriate who died in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from monkeypox, was buried today (11 October) at his village home in Cumilla following the directives of the Ministry of Health and district administration.
The burial was conducted in the presence of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Rahmatullah and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Golam Kibria Tipu.
"The body was transported from Dhaka airport to Cumilla last night [10 October]. The burial took place today at the family graveyard in Munshirhat union of Cumilla's Chowddagram upazila following the directives of the upazila administration," said Nazir Ahmed, Kamal Hossain's father.
Alamgir Hossain, chairman of the Munshirhat union, said Kamal Hossain has left two daughters and a wife.
"Kamal moved to the UAE seven years ago and died on 30 September after contracting the monkeypox virus," he added.
Dr Tipu said, "On 30 September, Mohammad Kamal Hossain died in a hospital in Sharjah after being infected with monkeypox, a contagious viral disease. To date, no cases of monkeypox have been reported in Bangladesh."
UNO Rahmatullah said the burial was conducted per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and district administration.
