Bank accounts of Mozammel Babu, family members frozen
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered banks to freeze the accounts of Ekattor TV's former managing director Mozammel Haque Babu, his wife Aparajita Haque, and their daughter Shababa Ishayat Haque.
The anti-money laundering agency issued the directive today (14 October) to suspend transactions in their personal and business accounts for 30 days, a BFIU official confirmed The Business Standard.
The agency also asked banks to submit all transaction records of them within two working days.
Mozammel Babu was the president of the Editors Guild.
On 16 September, he was detained in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh district while allegedly trying to enter India through Dhobaura border.
He was later shown arrested in two murder cases and placed on remand.
