The bodies of four individuals who went missing after a boat capsised in the Padma River near Char Majardia in Paba, Rajshahi, have been recovered by locals.
The bodies surfaced last night (2 September) and were found in the Padma river near Char Khanpur.
Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat, the Paba upazila nirbahi officer, confirmed the recovery.
"At around 10pm last night, locals recovered the bodies of Mohammad Ali and Raju from the Char Khanpur area. Later, around 2am, the bodies of Sabuj and Faruk were also retrieved from the same area," he said.
The funeral prayers were held this morning, and the victims were buried in the Char Majardia cemetery at 9:30am.
The victims had gone missing on Sunday (1 September) evening around 7pm when their boat capsized while returning from work in a nearby tomato field.
Although a Fire Service diving team launched a search operation early Monday (2 September), the strong currents forced them to suspend the effort by 11am.
