Worker burnt in Gazipur factory blast dies
The deceased, identified as Redwan Ahmed, 25, died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka
A worker, who suffered burn injuries in a blast at a pharmaceutical factory in Gazipur's Konabari BSCIC industrial area on 28 December 2024, died today (4 January).
The deceased, identified as Redwan Ahmed, 25, died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka this morning, Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Konabari Police Station told The Business Standard.
Atiqur Rahman, inspector (investigation) at Konabari Police Station, said four workers were burnt after a chemical-filled drum exploded inside a factory of Bristol Pharma Limited in the Konabari BSCIC industrial area.
"Two of them returned home after receiving treatment and two were admitted to hospital. Redwan died while undergoing treatment," he added.
Saiful Islam, warehouse inspector of Konabari Modern Fire Service, said there was an electrical switch next to the chemical drum at the scene. "It is believed that the explosion occurred due to an electrical fault."
