Case filed against 11 people in Ctg for hill cutting to make residential plot
The Department of Environment (DoE) filed a case with the Akbar Shah Police Station accusing 11 people of making residential plot by cutting a hill at Jungle Latifpur under Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram.
Ashraf Uddin, research officer of DoE Chattogram District officer filed the case on Monday (15 October).
The accused in the case are Ronnie, 35, Md Osman, 39, Md Jamal Uddin, 41, Md Abul Kasem 30, Md. Manik, 45, Sabuj, 25.
Besides, 4-5 unidentified people were also accused in the case.
Confirming the filing of the case, Ashraf Uddin said, "Acting on a tip-off, a team of DoE recently visited the Mirpur Road near Shapla Residential area and found 560 square feet of a 100-foot tall hill had been cut for making a residential plot without taking any permission from the DoE."
"Investigating into the matter we found involvement of 10-11 people in cutting the hill," he added.
He also added that a charge sheet will be filed after investigating the case thoroughly to bring the culprits to book.
