Regent Hospital owner Shahed sent to jail after remand
“Shahed gave various important information about weapons and his location in Satkhira before he got arrested”
A Satkhira court today sent Regent Group Chairman Shahed Karim to jail as police produced him before the court after ten-day remand in an arms case.
Justice Rajiv Roy ordered to send him to Satkhira Jail.
Shahed was produced before the Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate's court at around 11:30 am on Wednesday with tight security measures.
According to sources, "Shahed gave various important information about weapons and his location in Satkhira before he got arrested."
However, the investigating officer of the case, RAB-7 Satkhira camp SI Rezaul Islam said, "We got some important information. However, it should not be disclosed for the sake of further investigation."
On July 26, Shahed was placed on a 10-day remand in an arms case filed with Debhata Police Station in Satkhira.
On the same day, a Dhaka court rejected a bail petition by Shahed and placed him on a 28-day – seven days for each case – fresh remand in four fraud cases filed with various police stations.
On July 6, RAB raided the Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital on complaints of embezzlement and that it was faking Covid-19 test results. Then RAB sealed off the two branches of the hospital.
Shahed was arrested with illegal arms in a special drive carried out by RAB in Satkhira on July 15.
