Remand hearing in graft case against ex-NBR official Matiur 27 January

A Dhaka court has set 21 January for holding hearing on a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to take former member of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Matiur Rahman on a seven-day remand in a graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order today (21 January) as the Investigation Officer (IO) filed the plea today. The court after that set the date for hearing and asked police to produce Matiur before it on that day.
Detective Branch (DB) on 15 January arrested Matiur Rahman and his wife Laila Kaniz from the city's Bashundhara Residential Area.
Matiur became a subject of controversy due to a high-profile sacrificial goat, which was booked by his son.
Matiur Rahman was accused in number of cases, including two graft cases.
Deputy Director of the ACC Md Anwar Hossain filed this case against him on 6 January for concealing information of wealth of Tk1.27 crore and amassing illegal wealth of Tk5.28 crore.
