Sharmin Jahan remanded over fake N95 mask scam
Police on Friday night arrested Sharmin Jahan, the owner of Aparajita Trade International, from Shahbagh in Dhaka
A Dhaka court today placed Sharmin Jahan, a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, on 3-day remand a day after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University sued her company on allegation of supplying fake N95 masks amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Justice Mainul Hossain granted the remand when police produced her before the court on Saturday.
Police on Friday night arrested Sharmin Jahan, the owner of Aparajita Trade International, from Shahbagh in Dhaka.

Earlier on Thursday night, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station for supplying fake mask in BSMMU.
They alleged that the masks were low in quality and the frontline fighters amid Covid-19 outbreak are in risk due to these flaws.
BSMMU Proctor Mozaffar Ahmed was the plaintiff in the case.
On July 18, BSMMU authorities served a notice seeking explanation over the masks. Following that, BSMMU decided to sue Sharmin.
