2 held over killing a girl after rape at Dakshinkhan

Police have arrested two persons over the killing of a 13-year-old girl after gang-rape in the city's Dakshinkhan area.
The arrested have been identified as Robin Hossain (32) and Md Rabbi Mridha (26).
Police arrested the duo in a raid at Sreepur Police Station area in Gazipur on 30 January, said Rownok Jahan, deputy commissioner of DMP's Uttara division.
During a press conference at DMP media centre, Rownok Jahan said arrested Robin and the girl met online and the girl left home to meet him on 16 January.
According to police, the girl had told her family she was going shopping. When she didn't return home even after two days, her father filed a a general diary at Dakshinkhan Police Station on 19 January.
With the help of information and technology, Robin Hossain and Rabbi Mridha were arrested on 30 January from Gazipur's Sreepur.
The arrested people were sent to the court on 31 January with a prayer for remand and the court granted two days.
The detained Robin Hossain and Rabbi Mridha gave a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the court yesterday.
In the statement, they said on the day of the incident, they trapped the victim and took her to a house in Mohakhali. Then they tied the victim's hands and face with a cloth and raped her together with five people.
Later, they wrapped the body and dumped it on the road slope in Hatirjheel in a rickshaw from Mohakhali at midnight on the day of the incident.
