29 teen gang members sent to juvenile correction centre
The culprits were held from Tejgaon and Sher-E-Bangla Nagar areas of Dhaka
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday detained 29 members of teen gangs and a mobile court sent them to the juvenile correction centre in Gazipur for 6 months.
They were held from Tejgaon and Sher-E-Bangla Nagar areas of Dhaka during a drive by RAB mobile court.
According to RAB officials, yaba tablets and sharp weapons were also confiscated from the young culprits during the drive led by Magistrate Mohammad Sarwar Alam.
RAB-2 official Shahab Uddin told The Business Standard: “All the detainees are drug addicts and active members of different teen gangs. They had been committing criminal activities such as theft, mugging and pick pocketing in Karwan Bazar, Tejgaon Rail Gate and Shyamoli areas.
“Considering their young age, the RAB mobile court decided to send them to the juvenile correction centre, rather than press charges against them.”
