4 arrested over Chuadanga bank robbery
Police on Tuesday arrested four people in connection with a bank robbery that took place a month ago at Jibonnagar in Chuadanga.
They were all arrested in police raids conducted at several places including Chougachha of Jashore and Jibonnagar of Chuadanga early Monday.
The arrestees are Saftuzzaman Russell, son of Rafiq Uddin of Dehati Fakirpara at Jibonnagar upazila of Chuadanga, Rocky, son of Jahangir Shah, Hridoy, son of late Akhtaruzzaman Bachchu and Mahfuz Ahmed Akash, son of Mofizul Shah.
Chuadanga Superintendent of Police Zahidul Islam came up with the information at a press conference at his office on Tuesday afternoon.
He said Shaftuzzaman Russell, the main accused in the bank robbery, was arrested from Chaugachha area of Jashore on Monday night.
Later, on his information, a raid was carried out in Dehati village of Jibonnagar and three other men involved with the robbery were arrested.
During the raid, police found Tk5.03 lakh cash, 2 motorcycles, 2 toy pistols, 2 knives, a laptop, 2 helmets and a set of PPE and a pair hand gloves.
Earlier on November 15, 3 miscreants looted more than Tk 8.5 lakh from the Sonali Bank branch at Uthali area of Jibonnagar in Chuadanga. The bank branch manager filed a case with the Jibonnnagar police station over the robbery.
