Another arrested in Babu murder case
In connection with the murder of Manjurul Islam Babu, also known as "Blade Babu", in Dhaka's Pallabi area, the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested another key suspect Rabbi alias "Kutta Rabbi", 18.
Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcement agency conducted a late-night raid in the Pallabi area at around 1:00am yesterday and arrested Rabbi, listed as the 7th accused in the Babu murder case, said DMP's Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
On 20 January, Manjurul Islam Babu was critically injured in indiscriminate stabbing near the newly constructed road at west of Bangabandhu College in Pallabi. The attack was reportedly motivated by disputes over establishing supremacy and prior enmity.
Babu was initially taken to a local hospital for treatment. Later, he was transferred to Kurmitola General Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, Babu's wife Rabeya Akter Mim filed the murder case with the Pallabi Police Station on 21 January.
According to DB, operations were conducted in the Pallabi area, leading to the arrest of two other key suspects in the case, Tufan and Murad. With these arrests, the DB has so far arrested three suspects in the murder.
Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman said legal proceedings against the arrested are underway.
He said the investigation into the case is being conducted intensively, and efforts are ongoing to arrest others involved in the murder.
