'Planet Parade' enthralls skygazers in Dhaka
The Bangladesh Astronomical Association yesterday (26 January) organised an observation camp in Dhaka to view 'Planet Parade' – a phenomenon when Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn visibly line up in the sky.
The observation camp was organized in the capital's Kalabagan from 6pm till 10pm, with support from the National Museum of Science and Technology, said a press release.
"Because of the position of the Earth, we can see these planets lined up in the sky. Due to this apparent visibility, astronomers jokingly named the phenomenon 'Planet Parade'. It will be visible almost throughout the entire month of February," reads the press release.
The planets appeared one by one in the sky yesterday evening.
"Venus appeared above the western horizon of the sky after the sunlight diminished. Then Jupiter slowly appeared above. Saturn appeared slightly below Venus. Lastly, Mars appeared in the north-eastern part of the sky," adds the press release.
