He might have been murdered: physician
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Fardin Noor Parash, who was found dead in River Shitalakshya on Monday evening, might have been killed, says physician.
The body of 24-year-old Parash, son of Kazi Nuruddin Rana of Qutubpur area of Narayanganj's Fatullah, was fished out of the river three days after he went missing.
Police sent his body to the Narayanganj General Hospital for post-mortem examination on Tuesday.
Talking to The Business Standard, Sheikh Farhad Hossain, the hospital's medical officer who conducted the post-mortem test, said, "We have found injury marks on the head and body of the deceased. With the initial findings, we are suspecting that the victim was murdered."
Parash's first namaz-e-janaza was held on the Buet premises on Tuesday afternoon and the second one on the Shamsul Hoque Khan School and College premises.
"Do we raise children to see such a pathetic end? Doesn't the government see anything?" Parash's mother Farhana Yasmin lamented as she was present in the first janaza ground.
"Because of the culture of impunity, I lost my son. Otherwise, no one would have dared to lay a hand on any of Buet's students after Abrar Fahad's death."
Parash's father Kazi Noor Uddin said, "I will never get my son back. The only demand is to find the killers and bring them to justice. I seek the intervention of the prime minister."
He said he has no idea who killed his son. "Neither I nor my son has harmed anyone."
Parash was a third-year student of civil engineering. On 4 November, he left home and did not return. He was also incommunicado.
Later, his father filed a general diary with the Rampura Police Station in this regard. Monday afternoon, the body was seen floating on the river just behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
When contacted, Rampura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Rafiqul Islam told TBS, "We have interrogated several people. Meanwhile, we questioned his girlfriend, who was dropped in front of the Rampura traffic police box on November 4 night. We are not even keeping her out of doubt."
Pointing out that important information has been found, he added, "We are working to find the real reason behind this incident. After investigating all the matters, it will be understood whether it was a planned murder or there was some other incident behind it."
Fardin Noor Parash was buried at Delpara Central Graveyard in Narayanganj.
