Nine Allah'r Dol members held in Sylhet
All of the detainees will be taken to Dhaka today
The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police detained nine members of the banned militant group Allah-r Dol from Sylhet on Wednesday.
The nine detainees are – Manik Akond hailed from Bogura, Jahir Uddin Babor from Noakhali, Abul Kalam Azad hailed from Cumilla, Ashraful Islam from Rajshahi, Rasel Ahmed and Kamal Ahmed of Zakiganj, Tomi Uddin Sumon from Sunamganj, Jewel Ahmed of Tuker Bazar and Sapan Ahmed of Sylhet's Golapganj upazila.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Paritosh Ghosh revealed the information at a press briefing in Sylhet on Thursday afternoon.
Based on secret information, a team of ATU from Dhaka conducted a drive at Arambagh area in the Sylhet city and arrested them from a house there, said Paritosh Ghosh.
All of the detainees will be taken to Dhaka today, he added.
He said police have recovered cell phones and documents of organisational activities from the detainees.
