RAB files 3 cases against 'Golden Monir'

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has filed three cases against the detained gold smuggler Monir Hossain alias "Golden Monir", who was arrested on Saturday after hours long drive at his residence at the capital's Merul area.
The cases have been filed with Badda Police Station under Special Powers Act, Narcotics Control Act and arms case on Sunday morning, said Parvej Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Later, RAB handed him over to the police.
"Golden Monir" was arrested by members of RAB from his Badda residence in the capital on Saturday on charges of possessing illegal firearms and drugs.
Monir has earned assets worth over Tk 1, 050 crore through illegal activities in past several years. He has 200 plots, a car showroom and shares in a renowned jewellery shop.
