RAB to interrogate three main suspects of Sinha murder on Sunday
A few prisoners whom the suspended OC Pradeep had framed in “false cases” tried to beat him inside the jail on August 7
Pradeep Kumar Das, suspended officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station, faced fire and fury when he was thrown behind the bars, after being accused in Major Sinha murder case.
A few prisoners whom Pradeep had framed in "false cases" had a heated argument with him and later they tried to beat him on August 7, a Cox's Bazar district jail official said. "Now, the suspended OC has been kept in a separate cell."
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday interrogated four people accused in the killing of retired Major Sinha Md Rashed Khan in Cox's Bazar.

"We interrogated the four accused – Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Liton Miah and Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, and Abdullah Al Mamun – at the jail gate of Cox's Bazar district Jail at 2pm," Lieutenant Colonel Ashique Billah, director of RAB's legal and media wing, confirmed this to The Business Standard.
Also, RAB will take three more suspects into custody for interrogation.
"The three main suspects – suspended OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchhara police outpost's Inspector Liakat Ali, and Sub-Inspector Nanda Dulal Rakkhit will be taken into RAB custody on August 9," Lieutenant Colonel Ashique Billah said.
Meanwhile, a leaked phone conversation between Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Masud Hossain, suspended OC Pradeep, and Inspector Liakat went viral on social media on August 7.
During the conversation, Pradeep informed Masud that he told Liakat to shoot Sinha on July 31.
In the first information report (FIR) of the case, filed the day after the incident, police mentioned and claimed they had seized yaba pills, marijuana and liquor from Sinha's vehicle.
But during the phone conversation, neither Masud nor Pradeep talked about anything like that.
And another reference of the shooting was found in a leaked telephone conversation between Masud and Liakat. In the phone call, Liakat informed Masud that an individual, wearing an army T-shirt, was in the car.
"As I approached the vehicle, the person identified himself as an army major," Liakat said.
"Sir, I shot him while he was about to get a hold on his gun and trying to cross the check post."
And Masud told Liakat: "He opened fire before you did; I understand."
