Tortured doctor calls 999, her husband detained
Additional secretary held in domestic violence case
Dr Fatema Jahan dialled 999 at 11:30am on November 30 from Dhaka's Baily Road seeking police assistance.
She said that her husband had beaten her till she bled and she was not in a condition to go out. So, Fatema asked for quick police assistance.
The emergency service hotline 999 instantly connected her with the duty officer in Ramna police station.
Police went to Fatema's house immediately and arrested Md Zakir Hossain who is working as an additional secretary in the Ministry of Public Administration.
The law enforcers then sent Fatema, 39, to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
Later, Fatema filed a lawsuit against her husband under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act 2000.
Zakir is currently in process of being handed over to the court.
Fatema would work at Rajarbagh Police Hospital and currently pursuing her post-graduate studies.
