Two AL leaders detained at Sylhet airport
Two Awami League leaders were detained by the Immigration Police at the Sylhet Osmani International Airport yesterday.
The arrestees are Syed Shamim Ahmed, organising secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League, and Abdur Rahman Jamil, publicity and publication secretary.
They were detained on Monday evening while trying to depart for Saudi Arabia, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.
The police official said, "They were brought to the Kotwali Police Station. They are being interrogated. It is being looked into whether there is any case against them or not."
