Two youths killed in Cox’s Bazar power struggle
Two youths have been killed in gunfire between two terrorist groups in South Rumaliarchara of Cox's Bazar.
The incident took place this evening in the middle of Matiatali-Sikder Bazar, said Bipul Chandra Dey, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station.
The deceased are Raihanul Islam Raihan, 24, of Bachamiar Ghona area of Cox's Bazar municipality, and his associate Mohammad Shahed, 26, of Rumaliarchara.

According to police and local sources, there was a land-grabbing feud between two gangs led by Roki and Saddam respectively. Saddam was recently arrested by law enforcement. Later some associates of the Saddam group, including Raihan and Shahed, joined another group led by Ashu Ali.
Since then the Roki Group turned to feuding with the Ashu Group. On Monday evening, the two groups engaged in a gunfight as the feud reached its peak, leaving Raihan and Shahed dead.
On information, police reached the spot and took their bodies to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Following the incident, a police team under the leadership of Sadar Thana's OC, Sheikh Munir Ul Gias, stayed on guard where the firing took place.
Raihan had two murder cases and a mugging case against him, said OC Bipul Chandra Dey.
He said clashes often take place between terrorist groups in this area for power supremacy. Terrorists can easily hide in the nearby hills and deep forest.
