DIG Mizan to be arrested if warrant issued: Home Minister
The controversial DIG was suspended on Tuesday.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Mizanur Rahman will be arrested if a warrant is issued against him.
The minister said this while talking to reporters after attending a programme marking International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh.
"As DIG Mizan is a top rank officer, he has been suspended. Now the allegations brought against him will be investigated and legal action will be taken thereafter," he said.
The controversial DIG was suspended on Tuesday.
On May 3 last year, the ACC interrogated the DIG in connection with the accumulation of illegal wealth. The commission also reportedly found his involvement in money-laundering activities.
DIG Mizan, former additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), was withdrawn on January 9, 2018, following allegations of threatening a female news presenter of a private television channel.
Mizan reportedly picked a 25-year-old woman up in July 2017 and forcibly married her.
