Ducsu VP Nur, 8 others come under ‘BCL attack’
"They went to TSC to protest against the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act as scheduled," said one of the victims
Nurul Haque Nur, the vice president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), and eight others came under an attack allegedly carried out by the Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders in TSC area today afternoon.
Nur sustained injury on two fingers of his left hand and the eight others sustained minor injuries. They took primary treatment from the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Inspector Bacchu Mia of DMC police outpost said quoting doctors.
The injured are Dhaka University students Sifat, Tarek, Akter, Nahid, Asif, Mehedi and Nur's two relatives Aminur and Robiul.
Ducsu Social Welfare Secretary Akter Hossain, one of the victims, said they went to TSC to protest against the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act as scheduled. At one stage, some BCL leaders led by Muktijuddho Mancha's central unit President Aminul Islam and DU unit President Gonesh Mahmud came to the spot and started tearing the posters.
"They beat us when we tried to prevent them," Akter told The Business Standard.
However, denying the allegation, Aminul said no incident of attack happened, there was just an argument.
