Fire in Banani office under control
The fire that broke out in an office floor of the capital's Banani area has been brought under control.
Four units of fire service doused the fire which started on the second floor of a building located at Banani 11.
Primarily it affected an office space belonging to Fair Group and its employees.
Taslim Kabir, an employee of Fair Group said, "The fire started around 11:30 am. As soon as the fire broke out, our office located on the 2nd floor filled up with smoke. We (employees) later ran to the roof of the building and contacted the fire service."
In a Facebook live from his personal ID broadcasted shortly after their rescue, Kabir noted around 100 personnel jumped and climbed to the roof of an adjacent building to save themselves.
"We asked the people in the building next to ours to help us get from our roof to their roof," he said and added with the help of a small ladder they climbed to the next roof.
Some of them suffered minor injuries while fleeing the building.
The cause of the fire is still unknown according to fire service officials.
