Fire service declares Barua Bhaban risky, evacuates residents

The Agrabad Fire Service has evacuated the residents of Barua Bhaban in Chattogram, declaring the building risky after a deadly explosion left seven people dead on Sunday morning.
The five storied building was home to 12 families. Fire fighters have also hung a warning banner on the second story of the Barua Bhaban.
Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of the Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defense Office, said, "The building where the accident took place has become risky. The walls of a ground floor unit has completely collapsed.

"Cracks have appeared in the walls of other units in the building. In this situation, living there now is very risky. So we declared Barua Bhaban risky and evacuated the residents."
A third floor resident of the building, Ripon Nag said, "In this five-storied building, four families lived on the ground floor, and 12 families lived on other floors. We are moving out after the fire service declared the building risky following the incident."
On a visit to the scene of the explosion, the correspondent found that a wall of the Barua Bhaban has collapsed. Some of the rubble has entered the shops of situated in another building in front.
Doors, windows and furniture of several other flats in the Barua Bhaban showed extensive damage.
