Fire service driver dies in fire extinguisher blast in Pabna

A fire service and civil defence station driver died, and another was injured in a fire extinguisher explosion near Kashinathpur Bazar in Pabna's Santhia upazila last night (19 November).
The deceased was Abdur Razzak, 35, a driver of Kashinathpur Fire Service Station and son of Salam Molla, a resident of Baghabari Shela Chapri village under Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj district.
Kashinathpur Fire Service Station Leader In-Charge Ahsan Ali said the incident took place around 8.30pm when Razzak went to refill the fire extinguisher from a shop next to Kashinathpur Bazar.
The victim was refilling the extinguishers, and suddenly, one of them exploded due to excessive pressure, leaving them critically injured, he said.
Later, fire service personnel rescued them and took them to Pabna General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared driver Razzak dead, he added.
Md Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Santhia Police Station, confirmed the matter.
Legal action is underway, the OC said.
