The Jamuna River is overflowing due to onrush of water from the upstream, rendering thousands of people marooned in Sariakandi, Sonatola and Dhunat upazilas of Bogura.
Floodwater in Netrakona is not receding fast with rivers still swelling up owing to onrush of hilly water. Hence, at least 70 villages in the two upazilas remain inundated.

50,000 marooned in Sariakandi as Jamuna still swells above danger level
Low-lying areas, including homesteads and croplands in the three upazilas of Bogura district, have been submerged.
About 50,000 people remain stranded at 68 villages in nine unions of Sariakandi upazila, the worst affected area in the district.
According to the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), the Jamuna was flowing 69.3cm above the danger level at Sariakandi point on Friday. The water level slightly decreased from Wednesday when the river was flowing a maximum of 80cm above the danger level at this point.
Although the water of Jamuna has started to decrease slightly, the water levels of other rivers in the region, including Bangali, increased.
Sariakandi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Russell Mia said the government has provided dry food for 50,000 people from 12,000 families stranded in floodwater in nine unions of the upazila.
Bogura Water Development Board Executive Engineer Mahbubur Rahman said floodwater is now slowly receding.
Flash flood washes away fishes from 700 ponds in Netrokona
Flash flood has washed away fishes from more than 700 ponds in Sadar and Kalmakanda upazilas, inflicting a substantial financial loss on the fish farmers, according to the local fisheries department.
Md Akhtaruzzaman, executive engineer of Netrokona WDB, said Someshwari River was flowing 23cm below the danger level at Kalmakanda point and Ubdakhali River was flowing below 117cm.
Besides, the water level of Someshwari River at Durgapur point has risen slightly to 16cm above the danger mark, the water level of Kangsa River at Zaria is flowing below 143cm of the danger mark and the water level of Dhanu River at Khaliajuri is flowing below 79cm of the danger level, he added.
Flood situation improves in Sunamganj
The flood situation has improved in Sunamganj district. The water of Surma River is flowing below the danger level.
Surma water at Sunamganj point was flowing 10cm below the danger mark at 9 am on Friday.
Flood water starts to decrease in the district due to reduced rainfall and the stopping of onrush of water from hills.
Onrush of hilly water and downpour caused flash flood in Sunamganj that continued from June 25 to 29. The district town, Chhatak, and other areas were submerged.
Some 3,000 homesteads in the localities had gone underwater. However, the water had begun to recede in two or three days. The district town is now free of floodwater.
