Hasan Mahmud says European countries suppressing freedom of expression by banning pro-Palestine rallies
Hasan asked whether those who always talk about freedom of expression have any moral right to talk about this after this suppression of freedom of expression in their country
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday (13 October) said that the bans on meetings and gatherings on behalf of the Palestinians in different European countries is a gross interference with their freedom of expression.
He said this while replying to a question from journalists after addressing the closing ceremony of 'Concert for Peace and Justice' organized by Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Parishad at Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital's Kamalapur.
"I am surprised when I see in various media that France, Germany, Austria, and many other European countries have banned any kind of meeting, procession, or speech on behalf of Palestinians," he said.
Hasan asked whether those who always talk about freedom of expression have any moral right to talk about this after this suppression of freedom of expression in their country.
Secretary General of Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Parishad KM Shahid Ullah presided over the function while Housing and Public Works Ministry Secretary Kazi Wasi Uddin and organizing Secretary Farid Uddin Ahmed Ratan spoke on the occasion.
