Injured ex-BCL leader Momin dies in Dhaka hospital

MA Momin Patwari, the former social welfare secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), succumbed to his injuries in the early hours today (30 August) in a Dhaka hospital.
Advocate Rasel Mahmud Manna, organising secretary of the Lakshmipur district Awami League (AL), confirmed his death to The Business Standard.
"Momin hails from Lakshmipur's Ramganj and was active in Ramganj AL politics. On 14 August at midnight, he went to Dhanmondi 32 to light candles mourning Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's assassination," he added.
Rasel said Momin went to Dhanmondi 32 again the following day to pay tribute, and he was attacked there by some youths and unidentified men.
"Later, he was taken to a private hospital and had been undergoing treatment for the last two weeks," Rasel added.
