Italy suspends validity of work permit for Bangladeshis, other nationals
Work visa appointment seekers whose Nulla Osta receives confirmation will be contacted by VFS Global in order to submit their application
Due to the high number of false and counterfeit documents, the Italian government has suspended the validity of all "Nulla Osta" (work permits) issued in favour of citizens of some countries, including Bangladesh, until due verification is completed, said the Italian Embassy in Dhaka.
According to the Law Decree dated 11 October 2024, the embassy will only issue work visas after receiving confirmation from the provincial immigration office in Italy, known as "Sportello Unico" (SUI), that the verification of the suspended Nulla Osta has been completed.
Pending this verification, applicants will have their passports returned. The embassy has stated that the return operation will commence progressively from 20 October. Each applicant will be contacted by the embassy through VFS Global via SMS or email to inform them when their passport is ready for collection.
Once the confirmation of the Nulla Osta is received, applicants will be contacted again to bring their passports back to VFS Global to obtain their visas.
Additionally, work visa appointment seekers whose Nulla Osta receives confirmation will be notified by VFS Global to submit their application. Consequently, all appointments, including those already scheduled, are now unnecessary and will not be issued during this current phase.
The email [email protected] remains active, and newly issued Nulla Osta holders are encouraged to reach out through this address to provide their contact information.
The embassy has requested that applicants, employers, and lawyers refrain from emailing the embassy or VFS Global regarding the verification of their work Nulla Osta, as this process is managed in Italy.
Nulla Osta holders are advised to contact their prospective employers in Italy for updates on their verification status.
Notably, the validity of Nulla Osta will not expire while awaiting confirmation from the provincial immigration office (SUI). The processing of other visa types, such as family, study, business, and tourism, remains unchanged.
