A man and a woman have been found dead, with their bodies hanging inside a barn at Kalihati in Tangail.
The deceased were identified as Aleya, 39, wife of Danej Ali, and Shahjahan, 35, son of Baset.
Officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station Sawgatul Islam said, "From initial inspection, we guess it is a case of suicide. But Aleya's father thinks it is a murder."
"The bodies have been sent to Tangail General Hospital for autopsy," he added.
According to the locals, the dead were in an extramarital affair. They fled their homes a month and a half ago. They returned home on 14 October. Later, an arbitration meeting was scheduled to be held the next day.
Delwar Hossain, father of Aleya, said the two were beaten by the in-laws of Shahjahan on Thursday afternoon. Since then, they have been missing.
Later, they found their bodies hanging with a rope in the barn.
