Police have identified the deceased found hanging from a tree in front of Dhaka University's Department of Mathematics today (22 January).
"The Forensic Department of the Criminal Investigation Department has identified the deceased. His name is Abu Saleh, 45. He is a resident of Keraniganj," Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Ramna Zone Deputy Commissioner Md Masud Alam told journalists at noon.
He also said police are investigating whether he was murdered or if it was an incident of death by suicide.

Earlier on the day, police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
"The body was recovered early this morning from the opposite of the gymnasium [in front of the math building]," he added.
