Opportunists exploiting LGRD adviser’s name to be brought to book: Adviser’s office
The LGRD adviser's office has issued a clarification that the adviser and his family members are not involved with granting undue benefits to people.
The response came in the face of allegations that some individuals, who claim to be affiliated with the interim government's local government adviser or his family, were using their names to secure undue benefits from various departments in the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives.
The statement, signed by the ministry's Public Relations Officer Pawan Chowdhuri, emphasised that neither Adviser AF Hassan Arif nor his family members have sanctioned or participated in these unethical practices.
The ministry has observed a recent surge in such attempts, particularly among individuals from the Barishal region.
These individuals have been using the names of the adviser and his family to obtain preferential treatment or recommendations from various offices, organisations, and local government institutions under the ministry, said the statement.
The adviser's office has directed that anyone using AF Hassan Arif or his family members' names for lobbying, making recommendations, or extracting unethical benefits should be resisted and handed over to law enforcement agencies, along with filing cases against them.
