Police morale broken, want them to stand tall: Home secretary

The morale of the police force has been broken for which the government is making efforts to bring effective reforms, Senior Secretary to the home ministry Nasimul Gani said today (9 February).
"We want the police to stand tall. For that, they are actively being counselled," he said during a press briefing at the Ministry of Home Affairs conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat this afternoon.
Regarding the current situation of the police force, Nasimul said, "In countries where revolutions have occurred, they did not keep the defeated forces. However, we could not be that inhumane.
"We have tried to bring reforms to the security forces."
Noting that some police officers who committed wrongdoings under pressure out of fear and have fled the country, he said, "Action is being taken against them."
