Election needed as soon as possible to restore democracy: Rizvi
The senior BNP leader urged all to be vigilant so that fascists do not come to power again
The national election needs to be held as soon as possible to restore democracy in the country, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said today (16 November).
"The ousted Awami League robbed the people of their democratic rights. To re-establish democracy, people's right to vote must be guaranteed through fair elections," he said at a meeting organised on the occasion of gifts distribution to the families of July uprising martyrs in Barisal's Bakerganj upazila this afternoon.
Rizvi also said, "The Awami League was like an African catfish; it would eat everything it could get. Awami League smuggled Tk17 lakh crore out of Tk18.6 lakh crore the country got from abroad. On the other hand, [former prime minister] Sheikh Hasina was bloodthirsty and killed thousands of people to stay in power."
The senior BNP leader urged all to be vigilant so that fascists do not come to power again.
