President receives credentials of Bulgarian ambassador
The relations between Bulgaria and Bangladesh have been increasing gradually since independence, president says
President Mohammed Shahabuddin today (8 December) received credentials of the newly appointed non-resident ambassador of Bulgaria, Dr Nikolai Yankov.
Welcoming the new ambassador, the president said the relations between Bulgaria and Bangladesh have been increasing gradually since independence, President's Press Secretary Md Joinal Abedin told BSS.
The Head of State put emphasis on the exchange of high-level visits to develop bilateral ties and open up new areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Referring to the existing liberal industrial policies and export-oriented and private sector-led development strategies in Bangladesh, the President sought Bulgarian investment in Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Ambassador Nikolai Yankov emphasised Bulgaria's significance in strengthening its relationship with Bangladesh.
He sought all necessary cooperation from the president in fulfilling his assignment in Bangladesh.
Earlier, on his arrival at the Bangabhaban, the ambassador was accorded a 'guard of honour' by a smart contingent of the horse-mounted Presidential Guard Regiment (PGR).
President's Office Senior Secretary Dr Nasimul Ghani and Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin were present on the occasion.
