RAB ready for a different Eid celebration
With Covid-19-related restrictions, Eid celebrations will be very different this year
This year's Eid-ul-Fitr will not be the same as nations around the world take measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, including the suspension of Eid prayers, outdoor festivals, and other celebratory events.
And Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken all the preparations ahead of Eid.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, director general (DG) of RAB, informed this in a press conference on Friday.

Muslims across the world begin Eid celebrations by partaking in communal post-dawn prayers, followed by a short sermon.
But this year, Eid prayers have been cancelled in several Muslim countries amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The RAB DG said, "RAB is taking necessary steps to monitor the mosques so that they follow the social distancing and safety rules during Eid prayers. "A more than a half an hour interval from one congregational prayer to the next one and social distancing will be ensured. Entry to and exit from the mosques will also be controlled."
Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun also said, "We will ensure that all public transport services remain suspended. The number of checkposts has been increased to enforce that. All the departments of RAB are ready."
Replying to a query he said, "The situation is not that serious to impose a curfew. Whatever decision the government takes, after assessing the situation, RAB will implement that."
"People can use personal cars to go home, but no public transportation can be used."
The RAB DG also urged people to celebrate this Eid from the place where they are staying now to prevent the spread of Covid-19. "We are here for your safety. Please stay home."
