The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) team has detained an official of Rajshahi Zila Parishad along with five bottles of Phensidyl from Tolghar area of Chapainawabganj’s sadar upazila
The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) team has detained an official of Rajshahi Zila Parishad along with five bottles of Phensidyl from Tolghar area of Chapainawabganj's sadar upazila.
The arrestee is Mohammad Nuruzzaman, chief executive officer of the Zila Parishad.
Zafrullah Kajol, additional director of Rajshahi division of the department said that Nuruzzaman was detained along with a government vehicle while he was bringing Phensidyl in five bottles of cold drinks at around 9pm on Friday.
The team also seized the vehicle.
Chapainawabganj Deputy Commissioner Manjurul Hafeez said, "Nuruzzaman introduced himself as the Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi Zila Parishad after his arrest. He was then kept in the circuit house."
Now DNC will decide whether they will file a case against him under the Narcotics Act or a departmental case.
The DC also said that there is no chance of him getting relief from the incident.
Nuruzzaman was the Puthia upazila nirbahi officer of Rajshahi in 2015. At that time he used to take Phensidyl regularly. The story of his drug addiction was in the mouths of locals, according to local sources.
