Refrigerator blasts leave 7 injured in Sylhet: Police

Seven people were injured, including one with burns, after two refrigerators exploded at a roadside shop in Sylhet city, said police today (14 November).

Witnesses said the refrigerators of the shop 'Shaad & Co' suddenly exploded with a big bang, leaving seven people including pedestrians and a CNG-run autorickshaw driver injured.
Of them, the shop's staff, Emon, 18, was admitted to the Burn Unit of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, they said, adding that the other injured also received treatment from the hospital.
Kotwali Model Police Staton's Officer-in-Charge Md Ziaul Haque said locals doused the fire before the Fire Service personnel had arrived. The incident happened due to the explosion of the refrigerators' compressors.
A CNG-run autorickshaw was badly damaged and two other shops adjacent to the Saad were partially damaged, he added.
