Ringleader of fake visa syndicate arrested
He lured people with assurances of providing jobs overseas
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday arrested a man accused of deceiving individuals with fake visas of multiple countries.
According to RAB officials, the arrestee, Siddiqur Rahman (45) used to lure people with assurances of providing jobs overseas. He was arrested from Bisil residential area in Shah Ali Thana of Dhaka, at around 2:15am.
"He is the ringleader of a fraudulent gang," said Mozammel Haque, additional deputy inspector general of police and commanding officer of Rab-4.
He said that during the primary interrogation, the arrestee admitted that he would establish visa processing offices in areas like Mirpur and Mohammadpur. He lured unsuspecting clients with assurances of providing jobs in Malaysia, Russia, India and European countries, in exchange for a fee."
"He deceived them by arranging fake visas," the RAB official added.
