The demonstration is to realise 15-point demand including increasing commissions on petrol sales and raising fares of tank-lorries
Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners-Workers Unity Council will go on an indefinite strike in three divisions Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur from Sunday. They will observe the demonstration to press home their 15-point demand including an increase of commission on oil sale.
Convener of Rajshahi division unit of the council Mizanur Rahman, also secretary-general of Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners' Association, declared the programme at a press conference at Bogura Press Club on November 26.
He said, "If our 15-point demand is not meet by November 30, we will observe a strike in all petrol pumps in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions from 6:00 am in the morning on December 1."
"Extraction, transportation and selling of oil from all petrol pumps in the areas will remain suspended during the strike," he added.
Increasing commissions on petrol sales to at least 7 percent, raising fares of tank-lorries, cancellation of land lease system by the Roads and Highways Department (RHD), among others, are in their 15-point demand.
