Nusrat murder verdict: All accused produced before court
Judge Mamunur Rashid will start reading out the verdict at 11am today
All 16 accused of Nusrat Jahan Rafi have been produced before a Feni court today morning for verdict in the sensational murder.
The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid will start reading out the verdict at 12pm today.
Additional law enforcers have been deployed in Feni district town, Sonagazi and Char Chandia to avert any untoward situation.
Sixteen accused of Nusrat murder were taken to the court at 11am from Feni district prison, said Feni Deputy Jail Superintendent Monir Hossain.
What happened to Nusrat?
Nusrat, a student of Feni's Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set on fire on April 6 this year for refusing to withdraw a case against her madrasa principal, Siraj Ud Doula, for sexually assaulting her in March. Siraj Ud Doula was later arrested and sent to jail.
The principal in jail was visited by his associates whom he instructed to intimidate Nusrat's family into withdrawing the case and, if necessary, he ordered them to kill Nusrat, according to Banaj Kumar Majumder, chief of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Acting on his instructions, four associates of the principal took Nusrat, only a few minutes before the Alim exams on April 6, to the roof of the administrative building of the madrasa, saying that one of her friends was being assaulted there.
She suffered burns over 80% of her body. She died 4 days later on the 10 April at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
