His body has been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy
Abdullah, 23, a student who was shot during the mass uprising in August, died today (14 November) while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
"His body has been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy," Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cantonment Police Station told The Business Standard.
Abdullah was a student of the Department of Political Science at Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Nusrat Jahan, a student representative of the CMH from the health subcommittee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said Abdullah's home is in Jashore's Benapole. He was actively involved in the movement from the beginning.
According to police, Abdullah was shot near Bangshal Police Station in Old Dhaka around 7pm on 5 August. He was shot in the forehead and lay on the road for about two to three hours.
He was first taken to Mitford Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He underwent surgery there and was later discharged.
However, after returning to his home in Jessore, he fell ill again. As his pain worsened, he was again taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors detected an infection in his head.
As his condition did not improve, he was transferred to CMH on 22 August.
